The 2019 iPhone launch is just around the corner and we could see it make its debut on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. While there are plenty of leaks surrounding the upcoming iPhones, rumours about the 2020 iPhones are stealing its spotlight. The latest bit of information comes via reputed and long-time analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has effectively confirmed two exciting features of the 2020 iPhones.

The first major leak speaks about the insane cameras used in the iPhone 12 and it has to do with the rear-facing 3D camera system. Ming-Chi Kuo expects two of the 2020 iPhones to feature a new Time-of-Flight camera system on the rear and this will be just like what Apple uses with its TrueDepth technology used on the Face ID setup on the front-facing camera. However, the technology here would be more enhanced as it would allow you to 3D map objects from much farther away. This new camera system would greatly enhance augmented reality applications and build on certain camera functions such as Portrait Mode. Earlier reports had mentioned this feature but did not specify how many handsets this feature would be on.

Speaking about the 2019 iPhones, Kuo mentions that this year’s iPhone 11 and 11 Max are expected to feature a three-camera array on the rear with a new ultra-wide-angle camera. The lower-cost iPhone 11R will also feature an ultra-wide-angle lens but will skip on the telephoto lens that’s found on the more expensive models.

The next year’s iPhones will also come with 5G connectivity and Kuo previously mentioned that it will feature on just the two top-end models. However, he has backtracked on these claims and now states that all of the 2020 iPhones will feature 5G connectivity. There could be a fourth non-5G version at a lower price; however, this isn’t confirmed.
