HMD Global has slashed the price of Nokia 8 and Nokia 5 in India. The move comes before the company globally launches its new Nokia smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, which is scheduled to kick start from February 26 in Barcelona.

The Nokia 8 was originally launched in India at a price of Rs 36,999 and has now received a price cut of Rs 8,000, bringing down the price to Rs 28,999. The company might also slash the price of the Nokia 5 for the 3GB RAM variant, bringing down the price to Rs 12,499, following a drop of Rs 1,000, as per Mumbai-based retail seller, Mahesh Telecom. Although HMD global is yet to make a formal announcement.

Nokia 8 Specifications

The smartphone was originally launched back in September 2017. The key highlights of the phone are its dual cameras, aluminium body design and near-stock Android experience. The Nokia 8 sports a 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS 2K display with a resolution of 2560x1440p along with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset clubbed with 4GB RAM/64GB storage, which is expandable up to 256GB.

The smartphone comes with a dual rear camera setup — 13MP RGB+13MP Monochrome sensor along with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), accompanied with a dual-tone LED flash and an IR rangefinder, phase detection and laser autofocus. On the front, the handset sports 13MP with a f/2.0 aperture. Moreover, the phone comes preloaded with a 'bothie' feature.

The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box which is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo. As for the connectivity, the handset includes a fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE, 3.5mm audio port, USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Nokia 5 Specifications

The Nokia 5 was originally launched back in August 2017, priced at Rs 12,499 for the 2GB variant and Rs 13,499 for the 3GB model. The smartphone boasts 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels along with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset paired with 16GB storage which is expandable up to 128GB. Optics wise, The Nokia 5 sports a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
