To showcase the diverse range of passions on the platform and encourage Indians to explore these unique interests, Instagram has collated the ‘A-to-Z of Instagram in India’ - a cultural zeitgeist report revealing India’s funny and fascinating hobbies and passions,etc.
The same was unveiled last week by Bollywood actor, Tiger Shroff on IG Live in conversation with Mumbai based creator Nikunj Lotia aka Beyounick.
The report elaborated upon the following- -
Local trends that stood out - Festivals of Instagram,Indian weddings, Jewelry, Saree-grammers, Urdu poetry
Global trends visible in India too - Handmade (DIY), New Year resolutions, OOTD, Tutorials, Quote of the day, XOXO
Emerging passions - Comedy, Dogs of Instagram (Pets), Photography, Yummy (food), Zumba (fitness)
Trending interests - Body positivity, Enjoy the little things, Mental health, Green (sustainability), Keep going (Kindness & motivation)
It captured these trends based on significant growth they saw in engagement over a 90 day period (Sept-Nov 2019). There were also other things Instagram said they considered, in a press release, like uniqueness of passions and being culturally relevant. Other trends, ranged from Artists of Instagram, Body positivity, to Zumba, one for each letter of the alphabet. Instagram also noticed that the emergence of these trends reflected their new features, tools and programs also launched this year.
