With GIFs now being a part of Instagram, the contemporary ‘rivals’ which they will have to compete with are the Facebook, WhatsApp and Snapchat stories.

Instagram has recently added a feather to its cap by announcing the rollout of a new, funky feature on its Android and iOS app. The social media platform launched GIF stickers on January 23, will be available globally as a part of the Stickers tab in Instagram Stories from now on. And even though these stories were launched in 2016, this new feature will only work towards enhancing the experience.

The image sharing platform has partnered with Giphy and this enables the app users to add funny GIF stickers to their public and private stories. These GIF stickers will be available as part of version 29 on Android and iOS.

Instagram issued an official statement about the same saying, "Users can add as many stickers as they'd like from a growing library, and will have hand-curated recommendations to turn even their seemingly mundane moments into fun, expressive and artistic moments to share."

How does it work: If the user wishes to use this new feature, one will need to take a photo and subsequently click on the stickers icon on the top right of the screen. The list will have the GIF button to add the animated stickers to the photo or video you chose. You will then get to choose from a variety of trending stickers.
