You name it and Google has the information on anything and everything under the sun and above it. The search engine that concentrated on commercial websites has now come up with an option for the scientific community as well. A new search engine for datasets called Dataset Search will be similar to that of Google Scholar, the companyâs popular search engine for academic studies and reports.
Institutions that publish their data online, like universities and governments, will need to include metadata tags on their web pages that describe their data, including who created it, when it was published, how it was collected, and so on. This information will then be indexed by Dataset Search and combined with input from Googleâs Knowledge Graph. The aim of Dataset search, according to the company, is to unify the tens of thousands of different repositories for datasets online.
