Google recently released its Chrome 66. One of the biggest features of the new update was the blocking of auto-playing content. The company has now revealed that Chrome blocks about half of the unwanted auto-plays.

The new version of the browser mutes content with sound until you hit play. A number of auto plays are either paused, muted, or have their tab closed within six seconds by Chrome users, Venture Beats reported.

Google Chrome determines which auto-playing content to stop based on your preferences and ranking of each website as per your previous behaviour. A variety of factors, such as consumption of media over 7 seconds, the presence of audio, and size of the video, are also considered before content on a website is muted or paused.
