WhatsApp has released a voice note and audio file playback feature for its iOS beta app users.

Available on the app’s 2.19.91.1 version as well as on WhatsApp Business’ 2.19.90.8 version, the update shall let users listen to voice notes and audio files from the notification bar itself. According to the news portal WABetaInfo, TestFlight beta testers will be able to test the voice message playback feature if the last digit of their phone number is odd, and audio file playback if the last digit of their phone number is even. However, the website added that this may even by the opposite or be thrown out and allocated completely at random.

While users will be able to listen to the files from the notification bar, under the new update the read notification shan’t go to the sender until the user opens WhatsApp. They will also not be able to reply with voice messages yet.

The update is currently not available for android users, however in case you have an iPhone with the latest version of WhatsApp and you cannot access the update, you should back up and re-install the app.
