Windows 7 will stop receiving updates and security patches from january 2020.

The popularity of Windows 7 remains intact which offers seamless interface.

It's not the first time that a company is not able to gain as much profit from its upgraded product as it does with its outdated one. The same is happening with Microsoft which is witnessing relentless inclination of users towards Windows 7 operating system over that of the more advanced and updated Windows 10 OS. Many users are not ready at all to shift to the modern product.

The fact gets more acceptable when we have a look at the numbers. Windows 10 received a major update during April 2018. But, that was the time when it encountered only 0.18 per cent increase in market share. According to different analytics firms, Windows 10, despite having received several improvements in terms of features and performance, showed declined market share last month from 47.21 per cent to 46.75 per cent. On the other hand, Windows 7 showed figures rising slightly from 39.44 per cent to 39.63 per cent.

The lack of people's intention to adopt Windows 10 can be attributed to the entry of Windows 8 OS. Microsoft had missed out on several features with the introduction of version 8 which made up for lack of convenience, ditching the Start button, for instance. This absence of several features, which were there on the Windows 7, made people skeptical towards the modernization of the operating system.

Now, despite the Windows 10 been offering almost all the lost features along with the evolved interface, users are finding it difficult to shift to the upgraded OS. This keeps the popularity of Windows 7 intact which offers seamless interface.

However, the stubbornness of users will have to come to an end by January 2020 since this is when Microsoft will stop official support to Windows 7. It will stop receiving updates and security patches which will make the OS unsafe to use any longer. Undeniably, Windows 10 offers all the necessary features and UI for providing a good experience to the users but Windows 7' compatibility and simplicity makes it highly friendly.
