It was the Kharghar team that stunned their rivals with a third minute strike by Aviraj Jagdale.

Dipesh Sharma and Pranav Pillai shared the individual honors on a day when it rained goals in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament at the Father Agnel ground, Vashi on Sunday.

In three matches, 26 goals were scored with Dipesh leading the way with five goals in Petrochemicals Vidyalaya, Nagothane’s 10-0 victory over Podar International School, Nerul (CIE).

Player of the match Dipesh scored in the 28th, 37th, 42nd, 45th and 49th minutes while Vedant Mukadam was also quite effective, netting goals in the 33th, 40th and 48th minutes. Akshay Kotian (11th minute) and Mujtaba Kadiri (43th) were the other goal scorers for the winners, who led 2-0 at half-time.

Pranav Pillai of Ryan International School, Sanpada was another star of the day scoring four goals, as his team drubbed their Kharghar counterparts 6-1.

Interestingly, it was the Kharghar team that stunned their rivals with a third minute strike by Aviraj Jagdale. The Sanpada boys levelled the scores in the 19th minute through Sachin Jadhav before Pranav took charge in the second session and ran roughshod over his rivals. The player of the match found the net four times, in the 43rd, 46th, 50th and 57th minutes, while Sumedh Ingle scored in the 60th to complete the rout.

In another high scoring match, Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College rode on Gaston D’Silva’s three goals to demolish Tilak Junior College, Nerul 9-0.

Aayush Kumar, Asif Khan and Aniket Gunjal also put up a good show for the winners, netting two goals each.
