Bhuvan Jerpoth to captain Maharashtra Junior team

The team was selected after long periods of trials, training sessions and practice matches against local clubs.

The 20-member Maharashtra squad along with the support staff just before their departure to participate in the AIFF Junior National Football Championship in Una, Himachal Pradesh.

Central midfielder Bhuvan Jerpoth of Nagpur District has been appointed captain of the Maharashtra (WIFA) team that will participate in the AIFF Junior National Football Championship 2017-2018 (Tier-II) for the B.C. Roy Trophy to be played in Una, Himachal Pradesh, from January 29 to February 6, 2018.

The team was selected after long periods of trials, training sessions and practice matches against local clubs. The head coach of the team is AFC A license holder Mohan Dass from Pune District. He will be accompanied by assistant coach Ashfaque Ansari of Mumbai District, Adnan Ali of Nagpur District as manager and Physiotherapist Kunal Bargal of Thane District.

Maharashtra is placed in Group-B along with Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. Maharashtra will play their first match against Andhra on Monday, January 29.

In the second match, Maharashtra will meet Bihar on Wednesday, January 31 and Chandigarh in their last group match on Friday, February 2.

The matches will be played on a single-leg league basis in the group and the top team from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
