Mumbai: Mumbai City FC registered second win of the Indian Super League season with facile 2-0 win over sloppy Delhi Dynamos here on Saturday. Modou Sougou scored the first goal in the first half while Arnold Issoko, who set up the first one, scored the second.
The Islanders could have further improved their goal aggregate which took a hit after 0-5 loss to FC Goa in the last game, had striker Rafael Bastos converted the penalty early in the second half.
Ravi Kumar, who came in for injured Mumbai City goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, had an excellent game and made many reflexive saves.
The home side moved to fifth place with seven points in five games while Dynamos are still without a win after five games.
Mumbai went ahead after 30 minutes of play when Bastos volley for Issoko at the extreme right was responded well ny Sogou. The Senegalese striker outpaced a defender to slot ball home
Mumbai controlled the game from there on and hardworking Issoko sent in couple of good balls for Sougou but he couldn’t capitalise. Issoko was rewarded for his brilliance when he accepted a through ball from Bastos and cut goalkeeper Francisco outside the line to put it in empty net in the 77th minute.
