Mumbai: India's World Cup campaign ended on a sad tone as they lost to New Zealand in a rain-affected semi-final game. The team also lost its chance to lift the coveted trophy and staggering prize money of 4,000,000 USD as winners.

The ICC announced a total prize money pool of USD 10 million for the marquee event. The winners, England earned a handsome USD 4 million, along with the title.

The runners-up, New Zealand earned USD 2 million and losing semi-finalists India and Australia got USD 800,000.

India have won seven matches in all of their 10 matches, with the group match against New Zealand was washed out. India lost to winners England and finalists England.

Moreover, India will also receive USD 280,000 for their win against South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
