Drawing a ‘major sin’ in Islam: Moeen Ali slammed on Twitter

Mumbai: A number of his Muslim fans slammed England cricketer Moeen Ali on Twitter, for drawing a portrait of West Indies cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards.

Moeen, who is one of the few well-known Muslim British celebrities, had posted a picture of himself drawing a portrait of Sri Viv Richards, a tweet in which he urged his fans to bid for the portrait. The money raised from the auctions are set to go towards charity.

However, certain section of his fan base were not amused by this development, as they seem to believe that a devout Muslim should not draw pictures.

The 30-year-old has been instrumental for the England cricket team over the last few years, both with bat and ball. In the latest development, he got a hattrick against South Africa, helping England notch up a 239-run victory against South Africa at the Kennington Oval, in London, on Monday.
