In the latest twist in the ongoing Sushil Kumar versus Narsingh Yadav saga, the Wrestling Federation of India on Thursday alleged that Sushil Kumar ‘misused public money’ during his training in Georgia.

In March, the Indian wrestlers were sent for a training camp in Georgia but Sushil did not train with the team.

He trained 40 kms away from the camp with the Georgian wrestling team.

The two-time OLympic medallist defended his decision saying “if I had to train with Indian wrestlers, I could have done that in India. I get to train with better Georgian wrestlers.”

During the hearing on Thursday in the Delhi high court, the WFI alleged that Sushil “misappropriated public money” by training separately.

The HC will pronounce its order on Sushil’s plea of holding trials against Yadav for the 74kg 2016 Rio Olympics berth on Monday.

While Narsingh had insisted that going to the Summer Games is his right as he secured the quota in the 74-kg category with a bronze medal finish in last year’s World Championships, Sushil, who won gold in the same category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, called for trials to be conducted to determine who should go to Rio.
