Prizes galore at Mumbai races

This Sunday evening will witness a carnival like atmosphere as the Mahalaxmi racecourse is set to host the Dr Govind R. Gurbaxani Memorial Trophy in Mumbai.

The race has been named after a well-known doctor, an avid race goer and a respected club member. Gurbaxani was the first hall of fame student at the Kasturba Gandhi Medical College in Manipal. He was awarded the first gold medal in Obstetrics and Gynecology at this college in 1963. The event being an eight race-card event, will see races every 30 minutes in the evening.

There’s a contest open to all member’s and guests in the member’s enclosure, without having to bet on the tote.

At the entrance, they will receive a contest of skill form for free, and they have to nominate the first three placings in the second edition of the race, and drop it in the box near Member’s enclosure, 30 minutes before the race begins.

First prize is a two-night stay at Ananda Spa in Rishikesh. The runner-up will get a two-night stay in Jaisalmer while third finisher will get a buffet lunch for two at the Trident in Mumbai. The fourth prize winner will get a gift hamper worth Rs 2,500.
