Australians reign supreme

The 25th International Himalayan Run & Trek (Himalayan 100 Mile stage race) and related events were held from November 1 to 5 in the Darjeeling area of the North-East Himalayan ranges.

The 25th International Himalayan Run & Trek (Himalayan 100 Mile stage race) and related events were held from November 1 to 5 in the Darjeeling area of the North-East Himalayan ranges.

Participants came from as many as from 14 countries including Germany, the UK, India, Spain, Canada, Japan, Australia, USA, Argentina, Hong Kong, South Africa, Chile, Venezuela, Puerto Rico for the annual run, a challenging endurance event.

Tegyn Angel and. Kellie Emmerson (both Australia) jointly won the stage race for the the Sant Nagpal Baba Memorial Gold Award in an overall time of 19 hours and 45 minutes. Among the men, Simon Puttock (UK) finished second in 22:28 and Jeffrey Levy (USA) with third in 24:11.

In the women’ section, Linda Wilson (Canada) was second in 22:26 and Heidemarie M. Steck (Germany) third in 23:37.
