Former world snooker champion Pankaj Advani cruised into the semi-finals of the IBSF world snooker championship at the Sunrise Crystal Bay resort in Hurghada, Egypt, on Friday to line up a shot at his 15th world title.

Advani, the only surviving Indian at the event, beat Alex Borg 6-1 with a high-quality display from the Bengalurean despite an early fight from the Maltese cueist.

In the semi-finals Advani will meet the winner of the match between Greg Casey of Ireland and Lukas Kleckers of Germany.

Rafath Habib failed to reach the medal round in the Masters category, going down to Jason Peplow of Malta in the quarters, while in the women’s category Vidya Pillai who beat Jennifer Zehenter of Germany on Thursday to enter the quarter-finals, lost to reigning IBSF world ladies champion Wendy Jans of Belgium 2-4. Amee Kamani got the better of compatriot Chitra Magimairaj 4-3 to enter the semi-finals.
