Dhaka: This day, 19 years ago. On 29th October 1998, Sachin Tendulkar stamped his class against Australia as he single-handedly steered India to the semi-finals of the Wills International Cup in Dhaka. Also known as the ICC KnockOut trophy, India drew Australia for the quarter-finals in the 9-nation tournament.

After the Aussies opted to bowl, India soon found themselves in trouble with 2 wickets down for 8 runs, as Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Azharuddin had a short stay.

Tendulkar then changed the game with a thrilling 141 of 128 deliveries, helping the Men in Blue post a solid 307-8. The Master Blaster struck a 140-run partnership with Rahul Dravid and then a 132-run partnership with Ajay Jadeja to outshine Michael Kasprowicz bowling and fielding efforts.

The Australians in reply started in style and kept themselves in the game despite losing their top order batsmen. Tendulkar, for a change, showed what he can do with a ball. Sachin rattled the middle order with 4 wickets as India ran out comfortable winners in the end by 44 runs.

The Men in Blue eventually bowed out of the tournament as they lost to the West Indies in the semis by 6 wickets.
