A North Carolina State University student who wanted to keep her emotional support feline in her dorm room has finally reached a settlement with the university.

Last year Laura Auman asked the university to allow her to keep her cat, Kifree, in her residence hall, saying that the assistance animal constitutes a reasonable accommodation for a disability.

The university will also publicize its policy on assistance animals, one that allows students with disabilities to keep animals in university housing for therapeutic benefits.
