Most people give up after they have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease but there are some who take it in their stride and try to do everything they’ve always wanted to do. A Brit man diagnosed with cancer however has beaten the odds and reached the Mount Everest Summit in a heroic tale.

Ian Toothill became the first cancer patient to conquer Mount Everest in an unbelievable act after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015, according to a report in The Guardian. The doctors had given him only four months to live and since climbing the highest peak in the world was always always his childhood dream; he decided to go ahead with it.

The 47-year-old is a personal trainer and with his climb has helped raise 31,500 pounds (Rs 26,18,122) for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity. Interestingly, a friend of his had also promised to donated 1,000 pounds if he completed the climb to the top.
