Chennai: Narain Karthikeyan's 2013 Auto GP World Series season came to a controversial end after the Indian was disqualified for not obeying the black-orange flag. He finished second in the final race of the weekend, but was penalised by stewards for not returning to pits to replace a loose front wing.Narain, who won Saturday's race to remain in fray for the title, got off to a good start in Sunday's Race 2. But his front wing came slightly loose after his pit-stop. A lap later, the left side of the wing started hanging, scraping the ground on occasions. It forced the stewards to show him black-and-orange flag which indicates that the driver has to pit within three laps and change the damaged part. But the team preferred to keep him out as he was the fastest car on the track at the time and hoping that he would be able to take the win. Though he went on to finish second, Narain was disqualified from the final classification for not obeying the flag. The final race and championship standings are currently provisional, subject to a pending decision from the FIA tribunal in relation to round two held of the championship held at Marrakech, where Kimiya Sato was deemed to have made a pitstop outside the mandated pit window.
