Youth held for raping minor duo in Dharavi
A 20-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor brother and sister in Dharavi area of Central Mumbai on Monday night.
A 20-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor brother and sister in Dharavi area of Central Mumbai on Monday night. The Shahu Nagar police has arrested him and has also gained his custody from a sessions court to further interrogate him.
According to the Shahu Nagar police, the incident occurred somewhere between 5.30 pm and 7 pm in Dharavi area on Monday. The accused, Shadik Ansari, works as a tailor in an embroidery shop.
The two victims, a six-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were playing outside his shop. He chanced upon the opportunity and lured them to his room. Here he undressed them and sexually assaulted them.
After going home, the girl was able to narrate the incident to her aunt and the family immediately went to the police station where a first information report was promptly registered against the youth. The siblings have not suffered any injury.
Senior police inspector Dilip Thorat of the Shahu Nagar police station said, “We have registered a case of kidnapping and rape under Section 363 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and under Sections 4(penetrative sexual assault), 8 (sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment upon a child) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.”
The accused was produced before a sessions court and remanded to police custody till December 5.
