Woman stabs brother to death after argument

The Malvani police has arrested a woman early on Sunday for allegedly stabbing her brother to death. The accused was produced in court and was sent to police custody. The area had already witnessed two deaths within the last 10 days.

According to police sources, a heated argument between the accused Babali Kumari Yadav (21) and her brother Rahul Shivkumar Yadav alias Santosh (25) is said to be the reason behind the murder. A senior police official from Malvani police station said, “The deceased, Santosh returned home and found his house locked from inside after which he called his mother who was having an evening walk in the locality, to open the gate. After entering the house he started arguing with his sister Babali for not opening the gate even though she was inside the house.”

Babali, on the other hand, started shouting at their mother for spoiling Santosh as he was unemployed, said the official. As the mother and daughter began quarrelling, Santosh tried to intervene and resolve the matter but Babali started abusing him as well and in a fit of rage she rushed off to the kitchen, grabbed a knife. While Santosh followed her to the kitchen and attempted to calm her down, Babali stabbed him near the neck with the knife, said the senior police official.

As Santosh fell down and started to bleed profusely, their mother called for help and immediately rushed him to Shatabdi Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police was called in after Santosh’s death and they questioned the mother who narrated the entire incident to them, leading to Babali’s arrest. The mother had reportedly told the police that Babali had picked up the knife only to scare and threaten her brother and not to actually inflict any harm to him. Santosh was injured in the struggle while he tried to take the knife away from Babli.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the siblings did not share a cordial relationship. According to the locals, accused Babali had been married for the last six months and has been unwell for some days. She was even admitted to the hospital and had been staying with her mother after being discharged.

She has been booked under the IPC for murder.

On November 28 — A woman goon Mumtaz Begum Rashid Sheikh aka Mamta Baljit Singh Tejkaur alias Netain (55) was found dead outside her house in Imambada, Malwani, at about 5.30 am. The police has questioned about 200 people but is still clueless about the culprit.

On December 5 — An unidentified body of a man, aged about 30 to 34 years was found near Dharoli area of Malvani. He was murdered with a sharp blade weapon. According to police officials, they could not find any proof of identity from the deceased. The police questioned the locals, but did not manage to find any leads in the case.
