Friends of Chintan Upadhyay, an accused in the Kandivali double murder case, have claimed that the main accused in the case, Vidyadhar Rajbhar, may have visited Chintan’s house in Jaipur to click photos of it as proof of his property.

They claimed that this act could be in connection with Hema’s maintenance application that had been pending before the high court that stated that Chintan was wealthier than her and she did not have enough money to manage her expenses and was thus forced to take a personal loan.

Chintan’s friends have also expressed surprise over Vidyadhar’s visit to the Jaipur house when he had not been in touch with Chintan after borrowing Rs 5 lakh from him in 2012.

A friend of Chintan, Amir Rizvi, said, “Hema was unhappy with the Rs 40,000 per month maintenance that the high court had ordered Chintan to pay her. Therefore, in her application she had quoted that Chintan was wealthier than her and was allegedly collecting details of Chintan’s property to demand an increased amount as maintenance.” Vidyadhar had allegedly visited Chintan’s Jaipur house on December 5.

According to Mr Rizvi, in her plea to the court, Hema had listed several properties of Chintan and she added picture of a Vapi-based studio belonging to Chintan’s friend Somu Desai as well. Before the next hearing, Hema wanted to collect all documents related to Chintan’s property and had hence sent Vidyadhar to Jaipur, claimed Mr Rizwi.

“When I heard Vidyadhar had visited Chintan’s house in Jaipur I was amused because even though he was at the house, Vidyadhar was not receiving Chintan’s calls,” he said.
