The city on Monday witnessed two major incidents of fire, one at a slum in Mahim and the other in a hospital godown in Parel, but no casualties were reported. The fire in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial hospital’s godown at Parel was brought under control immediately and prima facie the cause appears to be a short circuit.

At Mahim, the fire started around 11 am at Naya nagar slums and was brought under control within hours. Around 30-40 hutments were gutted in the fire but no casualties or injuries occurred. Many from the Mahim slum complained that their valuables were stolen.
