The truck driver who allegedly ran over the woman fled in panic, leaving the truck behind on the road, which led to the traffic snarl.
Bhagwanti Dineshkumar Jain, who was travelling with her husband on a motorcycle, died on Friday morning after a truck ran over her body when her husband tried to overtake the vehicle in a narrow road.
According to officials, the truck was ahead of Jain’s motorcycle, but Jain kept trying to move ahead of the truck. When the truck driver moved towards the footpath to give space to the motorcycle, Jain oversped when trying to reach the spot. His wife was thrown off the bike and fell down on road, while the truck which was trying to move forward unknowingly ran over her and she died.
Following the incident, Jain started pelting stones on the road to show his anger. The truck driver panicked and fled the place, leaving his truck behind. This led to a traffic jam on an already congested road, informed police officials.
