The Thane rural police has arrested three youths for making a bomb and attempting to kill two youngsters. One of the accused had plotted to kill the two youngsters because they had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not stop pursuing the girl he was in love with.
The three accused left the gift-wrapped bomb outside the house of one of the victims, only for the parcel to be opened by his mother, who lost her hands in the explosion that followed.
The three accused — college students identified as Pramod Dalavi (25), Siddhesh Dalvi (20) and Roshan Shelar (19) — have been arrested by Padgha police. Abhijit Gharat, whose mother was injured in the explosion, studies in the same college as the three arrested accused. Apparently, Abhijit’s best friend, Prasad Shelar, was in love with the same college girl with whom one of the accused, Pramod, was in love.
When Prasad and Abhijit came to know about it, they warned Pramod to stay away from the girl as Prasad liked her since childhood.
“Pramod got angry after Abhijit threatened him, and along with his brother, Siddhesh, and friend, Roshan, he hatched a plan to kill Abhijit. Siddhesh was adept at building electric circuits so he learnt to make a bomb and by collecting gunpowder, they made a bomb and kept it in a stylish bottle which they kept near Abhijit’s bike,” said police.
DCP Mahesh Patil said, “The youngsters were planning to flee but our special team caught them on Sunday night. They have done this to take revenge and after Abhijit, they were planning to plant a bomb near Prasad’s home too. Abhijit’s mother is now fine and out of danger.”
