Thane murder: Husnain invited us but we did not go, says Brothers-in-law
Husnain Warerkar, who allegedly killed 14 of his family members and committed suicide on Sunday, had called the husbands of his sisters for the feast on Saturday.
Husnain Warerkar, who allegedly killed 14 of his family members and committed suicide on Sunday, had called the husbands of his sisters for the feast on Saturday. However, brothers-in-law did not turn up because of they were busy with work, they said in a statement to the police.
The Thane police has sent letters to doctors’ associations to find out the psychiatrist who was treating Husnain. The police will also further question Husnain’s sister who survived the attack.
While questioning Husnain’s brother-in-laws, they said that Husnain had called them over for the get-together as well on Saturday. But while one brother-in-law, Arfan Fakki from Koparkhairne, could not turn up because of work commitments, the other Shaukat Khan was not present at the feast because he was expecting Husnain to confirm the invitation which he did not and hence, Shaukat did not attend the family event, claimed sources from the police.
Commenting on Shaukat’s relation with Husnain, a source from the police said on condition of anonymity, “Shaukat had given Rs 7 lakh to Husnain for his business. But Husnain told him that he had encountered some problem to start the business in his name so a friend would be running the business on his behalf and so he had given the money over to the friend. Shaukat, however, had no idea who the friend was.”
Another source from the police said, “There are so many things we still need to find out, like Husnain’s friend to whom he had given the money to start his business. We also need to find the psychiatrist he was consulting for his treatment. But for us, the most important part of the investigation will be to interrogate the sister who survived the attack.”
Speaking on the matter, joint CP Ashutosh Dhumbre said, “We have sent letters to leading chemists in Thane and Navimumbai who sell medicine related to psychiatric treatment asking whether they have sold medicines to Husnain or if they know the doctor who was treating Husnain.”
