The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday arrested a school teacher from Hingoli district for his alleged links with the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday arrested a school teacher from Hingoli district for his alleged links with the Islamic State (ISIS). The arrest comes a day after the ATS arrested a teacher from Parbhani district with similar links.
The arrested accused was identified as Raeesuddin Siddiqui who lives with his wife and kids at Azam Colony in Hingoli and teaches English at a school there.
ATS officials revealed, Siddiqui was in touch with suspected ISIS operative Naser bin Yafai Chaus and Shahed Khan, who were arrested for ISIS links and planning an attack on the state. He also reportedly knew Iqbal Shaikh Kabeer Ahmed, the teacher arrested from Parbhani on Sunday.
“During probe, Chaus and Khan hinted about Siddiqui which prompted us to arrested him,” said an ATS senior officer, adding that they also searched his house for explosive material but found nothing.
