The special inspector general of police (L&O) of the state issued an order on Sunday for action to be taken on a daily basis to curb the sale of illegal liquor in the city.

That apart, activist Anna Hazare, when he visited the family of the deceased in Kopardi village, had also called for a ban on liquor to curb such incidents.

The circular that special inspector general of police (L&O) Prabhat Kumar sent to every commissionerate in Maharashtra states several orders meant to stop the sale of illegal liquor.

One of these orders is that illegal liquor shops should be frequently raided and once the police seize a product, it should be destroyed immediately.
