Hundreds of students protested outside the state CET cell at Bandra after a technical glitch in the option form they had filled while applying for admissions through the online process had denied them a seat. The students claimed that though they have secured more than 80 marks out of 150 in the Law CET, they have not got seats allocated while students with lesser marks have got seats in top law colleges.
Speaking about the problem, Dr Aditya Pardasani, an applicant who scored 76 marks out of 150 in the Law CET as soon as the first merit list was announced for admissions to law colleges he was taken aback to see that his name did not feature in the list. “I had applied in the minority and linguistic minority quota as I am a Sindhi but still I failed to get a seat. When I inquired with other applicants who had opted for the same quota seats they also faced similar problems,” said Dr Pardasani.
According to MNVS vice-president Akhil Chitre, hundreds of students were facing the problem. “On closer inspection of the forms submitted by the students they realised that while they had chosen linguistic minority in the option when they rechecked the form the option showed that they had refused it,” said Mr Chitre.
The parent of a student, Viraj Reshamwala, who had chosen the Gujarati option in the form, said he also faced a similar problem. “Students who scored 35-40 marks in the Law CET have got seats to the top colleges like GLC, KC and Advani Law College,” Mr Reshamwala said.
