In a late night decision, the state medical education department issued a resolution wherein deemed university medical and dental colleges were included in the NEET UG admissions along with private medical and dental colleges that started yesterday. According to the GR, admissions to 85 per cent of deemed university seats would also be done via the centralised process that will start from August 25.

However, most deemed medical and dental colleges have started their own admission process, ending on August 31. Attempts to contact Dr Pravin Shingare, director, DMER, were futile. Earlier, the regulating body for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses said the admission process would exclude seats in deemed university medical and dental colleges.
