Attacking ally BJP over the Uttarakhand controversy, Shiv Sena on Thursday hailed democratic values and reminded the BJP how Hitler’s dictatorship ended with his suicide. The criticism by the Sena has come after Congress restored its rule in Uttarakhand, following a Supreme Court order.

“Power is a double-edged sword. Do not chop off your own nose with this sword. It has happened in Uttarakhand. Those who helped you to reach the top can pull you down. Even Hitler’s pride collapsed and he had to kill himself. Understand the importance of democracy,” the Sena said. BJP allegedly lured Congress MLAs in Uttarakhand by creating trouble for the government and also had the President’s rule imposed in the state. However, after the Supreme Court’s intervention, Congress was given a chance to prove majority and its rule was restored. The Sena said that Uttarakhand was known as Dev Bhoomi where democracy won. The Sena even hailed the judiciary for “saving” democracy in Uttarakhand and said handling of the situation in the hill state by the Centre had served as a “tonic” for Congress’ revival.

“Those who tried to show their ‘might’ by imposing the President’s Rule in the state have fallen flat on their face. We are sad that this has given a revival tonic to the Congress,” it added.

Blaming BJP for the revival of Congress, the Sena said, “This is completely embarrassing for the BJP. Circumstances in Uttarakhand were not conducive for Congress, but they have now turned beneficial for the party due to our grave mistakes.”

Referring to the rebellion by nine Congress MLAs in Uttarakhand, Sena said the government there had been reduced to a minority. “Had the trust vote been taken then, the government in Uttarakhand would stand defeated. This is not the way to make the country Congress-free. Rebellion and horse-trading are a disease,” it added.
