Former media baron Peter Mukerjea’s lawyer on Friday completed his arguments seeking bail, with the court posting the matter for hearing the prosecution’s arguments on Saturday.

Mukerjea was arrested for his alleged involvement in his stepdaughter Sheena Bora’s murder case.

Advocate Abad Ponda on seeking bail for Peter argued that the investigating agency CBI had failed to bring any material on record to prima facie show that Peter was involved in the murder.

Peter has challenged lower court’s order to refuse him bail on the ground that the investigation was still on. He has contended that once the charge sheet has been filed, further investigation has no fixed deadline, and merely mentioning that the investigation was still on was not a fair ground to keep a man in custody indefinitely.

Mr Ponda further argued before Justice A.S. Gadkari that the prosecution claimed Peter was unhappy with his son Rahul’s relationship with Sheena and hence, he got involved in her murder conspiracy; however, Peter had expressed his happiness over Rahul and Sheena getting engaged in 2011 and had blessed them. The lawyer also pointed out that Peter had sent a mail to one of his friends and had written that he was very about Raul’s engagement with Sheena.
