The Ambernath railway police is looking for a man who allegedly killed and dumped the body of a 22-year-old youth at Ambernath railway station.

The Ambernath railway police is looking for a man who allegedly killed and dumped the body of a 22-year-old youth at Ambernath railway station. Police sources said that the police had gone through CCTV footage of the railway station to identify the deceased and accused and accordingly, on Saturday, they circulated a few pictures of the suspected accused, who was seen with the deceased in the CCTV footage. However, the identity of the deceased hadn’t been established.

Sources said that since recovering the dead body on Wednesday morning, no one has been rounded up for questioning or detained for interrogation. They added that help was going to be sought from locals and vendors to identify both the accused and the deceased.

Police sources stated that on June 1 at around 9 am, the body of a 22-year-old male was found in a gunny bag on platform number two at Ambernath station. The body was discovered by a sweeper who chanced upon it while sweeping the floor and informed the railway police. Following the incident, cops registered a case of murder against an unknown person under section 302 of IPC. Investigation was started jointly by GRP Ambernath station and Government Railway Police (GRP) crime branch.

During investigation, the cops did a reverse analysis of CCTV footage of different stations along different tracks of the Mumbai suburban railway. During the video analysis, the police zeroed in on some suspects at Mumbra station and is now in the process of identifying them. While no conclusion has been drawn about the identity of the deceased.
