Though the family of gangster Sandeep Ghadoli, who was killed in an alleged fake police encounter in February 2016, has alleged Mumbai’s police commissioner was aware of the Haryana police’s plan to target him, facts contained in the case chargesheet counter their version.
According to a police investigation, the encounter in which Ghadoli was killed was fake and Ghadoli’s girlfriend Divya Pahuja was used as a bait in the incident. As per the chargesheet, when Divya Pahuja was detained for questioning, she was very tense. She called her mother Sonia and urged her to “get her out.” Sonia, in order to console her daughter, told her she had already spoken to the Mumbai police commissioner and Diyva had been detained only for a night for her own safety.
As per the chargesheet, in this conversation, when Sonia told Divya she has already spoken to Mumbai’s police commissioner and she (Divya) is kept in detention for a night only to ensure that nobody suspects her, in the same conversation she also told Divya that she was still not aware in which police station she was kept.
The conversation itself shows that had Sonia spoken to the commissioner or any other cop, she would have been aware of Divya’s whereabouts.
