The public will give its verdict on Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil today but its seems the RSS has already given its decree on the video released by Mr Johar last week, where he assured that he won’t “engage” with Pakistani artistes in future. According to the RSS’ mouthpiece Organiser, the mood of the video is “funeral like”.

Elaborating why Mr Johar’s video is like a funeral, the article states: “The mood of the video is funeral. Karan Johar is clad in a sombre black, speaking with a serious face against a grey background”.

The article takes a dig at Mr Johar saying, “Johar has been largely silent against the Uri attack. He seems to have discovered his latent patriotism only now, on the eve of the release of his movie, in the face of a big financial loss. There is no ban on ADHM, merely the threat of a spontaneous boycott, which is a democratic right of the people involved. Karan Johar’s video statement deliberately attempts to obfuscate the difference between an enforced ban and a voluntary economic boycott”.

The RSS article also claims that Karan Johar won’t hesitate to “exploit patriotism in his candyfloss movies. The right-wing mouthpiece also lambasts actor Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Om Puri for their views on terrorism and Pakistani artistes.

The Congress was quick to thrash the article. “Those who (RSS) till date didn’t salute the Indian flag, have no moral right to ask about someone else’s patriotism,” said Anant Gadgil, national spokesperson of the Congress.
