Navi Mumbai crime branch officials on Monday sent notice to Popular Finance Company to shut down their offices within 24 hours as they do not have any legal permission to run the firm. The firm has two offices in Navi Mumbai; one near Seawoods railway station and the other near Kamothe. Police found out that both offices were being run illegally.

Navi Mumbai DCP, crime branch, Sandip Sawant, said, “While we were interrogating employees and asked for some legal documents, company officials could not give us the same. At that time, they confessed that they did not have the licence that is issued by RBI to a finance company. Secondly, they should get permission from the deputy registrar. We sent a letter to the deputy registrar’s office to get details about the firm and the former sent a reply on Monday that the firm did not have any permission from them. Thereafter, we sent notice to the company to shut down within 24 hours.”

Meanwhile, police got custody of the five accused who had recently allegedly barged into the firm’s office and looted gold worth Rs 6 crore. They were arrested by Navi Mumbai crime branch officers, who said after interrogating the firm’s employees, they came to the conclusion that some of them were involved and tipped the robbers about the firm’s hours.
