Pratyusha Banerjee's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh admitted to hospital

Rahul Raj Singh, boyfriend of actress Pratyusha Banerjee, was admitted to Sai Hospital of Kandivali (east) on Sunday at about 11 am. According to doctors at the hospital, his blood pressure had dropped considerably. A hospital source informed The Asian Age that Rahul was suffering from chest pain and nausea and was perspiring a lot.

“Since Pratyusha’s death Rahul has not been eating anything. This morning his situation worsened, so he was taken to the hospital. He is in deep trauma and depression,” said Sahila Chadha, a friend of Rahul.

Another friend, who did not wish to be named, said, “He was released by the police around 11 pm on Saturday, and he was later taken to his lawyer’s office in Lokhandwala with his father and aunt. Despite several requests, he refused to eat or sleep and was awake the whole night. When he saw Pratyusha’s pictures in news reports on Sunday morning he lost control and started crying and running around. He said that Pratyusha was alone and calling for him. His behaviour made me worried. Later, when we took him to the hospital, we told doctors to sedate him, as he needs rest. Doctors are keeping him under observation for the next 24 hours.”

Doctors had sent blood samples of Rahul for testing. After being questioned by officials in Bangur Nagar police station, Rahul was supposed to go to the police station again to give a statement on Sunday.

According to a source, Pratyusha’s father and her uncle are likely to go to Bangur Nagar police station to give their statements. It is also possible that they file an FIR against Rahul, claimed the source.

A source told this newspaper that the police had not released him and it was keeping a close eye on him. “If Pratyusha’s parents complain, we will register a case too” said an official. It’s not clear at this point whether or not an FIR will be filed, but the police is taking precautions and keeping all forensic and other evidence ready along with statements of witnesses, and it will be finding out about the troubles faced by the couple. Interestingly, a common friend of the couple said that Rahul was with his ex-girlfriend when Pratyusha was admitted in Kokilaben Hospital.
