The Kurar police is still clueless about the shootout that occurred in its area on Friday, November 27. The police is now planning to question a local goon, Uday Pathak, whose name had been mentioned in the letter dropped by the shooter after the shootout. Earlier, police was relying on CCTV footage of the construction site. However, the shooter had his face covered.
An auto driver was shot at by an unknown assailant in Malad around 9 pm on November 27. The assailant, after reaching an under-construction site, fired a round at Turkeshwar Singh, hitting him in the stomach. After the shooting, the assailant dropped an envelope containing an extortion letter.
According to a source from the Kurar police station, the only clue police has is the walking pattern of the shooter, and they are asking locals and repeat offenders if they have seen or know someone with the same height or walking style.
The source said that due to darkness and the distance, nothing about the shooter is clear and all they can see is a walking shadow. As many as 50 people have been approached to identify the shooter but no conclusion has been drawn yet.
Additionally, a few goons related to the Pathak gang have been questioned as the letter demanding Rs 10 lakh mentioned his name.
The local police has now also involved the crime branch unit in this case and both are planning to question Pathak, who is in jail for murdering four people in the Kurar area.
