The Mumbai police seems to be still struggling to get any clue in connection with the murder case of a seven-year-old who was found dead on Tuesday. The body was recovered from a marsh at a slum colony near the naval base at INS Hamla in Malwani. According to sources, the police has questioned as many as 20 people in connection with the case so far. But it is still unclear as to who abducted the girl from the place where she was playing before the incident. According to the police, the child went missing on Monday evening. The Marve village resident has been living with her maternal grandparents ever since she was a toddler. Later, around 2 am on Tuesday, her body was recovered.

Subsequently, the police registered a case of kidnapping and murder.

A post-mortem conducted on the body in Bhagwati Hospital has confirmed sexual assault; but on Saturday, the police added Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code in the first information report of the case for unnatural sex.

The girl’s clothes and the mattress in which she was wrapped was sent to the forensic science laboratory for detailed checking.
