Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Monday tweeted to the Mumbai police about an unsavoury tweet sent to her from the handle @Ganeshnoa (Ganesh Aiyar) stating that many Hindus were waiting to “rape” her.

‘Mehr never dre 2 come India. Aftr ur dirty statement, thre r many Hindus eagerly waiting to rape U’ read his tweet. The tweet, which also tagged Rajdeep Sardesai and Tarek Fatah, was sent on 8.48 pm on January 17. Once the Mumbai police was tagged on the tweet by another Twitter user, @Ganeshnoa deleted the tweet. Ms Tarar, however, said that she had a screenshot of the tweet.

The cops responded to the Pakistani columnist’s tweet and said that they had forwarded the complaint to the concerned authority.

Sources said the screenshot of the related tweet is with the police and investigation is on in the case.
