One held for stealing bag with Rs 5 lakh cash

The Kandivali police has arrested a man for stealing a bag from a senior citizen inside a running BEST bus in their area. The bag contained Rs 5 lakh.

The Kandivali police has arrested a man for stealing a bag from a senior citizen inside a running BEST bus in their area. The bag contained Rs 5 lakh. They are on the look out for two more people accused in the case. Officials suspect that the gang might have committed similar crimes in the past and are looking up previous records to verify it.

The incident took place on Monday around noon in a BEST bus number 390 while it was crossing Bal –Bharati area of Kandivali. The 34-year-old arrested accused, Raju Ghodse, asked the victim resident Kishor Shah (59), a resident of Kandivali, to shift to the seat reserved for senior citizens. While Shah was changing his seat, the arrested accused snatched his bag and passed it to two of his accomplices who immediately got off the bus. When other passengers realised what happened, they caught hold of the Ghodse and beat him up. Later, the bus conductor took him to the police station and filed the complaint. Police has booked a case against him under section 392 (robbery) and 34 (common intention) of IPC.

According to a senior official from Kandivali police station, as the accused was assaulted he was provided proper medical treatment.
