Now, app to tell you about jurisdiction of cop stations

The Mumbai police has tied up with commuter information mobile application, m-indicator, to display information regarding police stations to users. In the new feature, users can type in an area or use the map facility on the app to pinpoint the exact police station for that place, and even lodge minor complaints using the app.

Mumbai police Commissioner D.D. Padsalgikar on Thursday unveiled the new feature in the popular mobile application in the presence of the founder of the application, Sachin Teke. “We already have a safety feature in our app, so we thought that we could help people by giving them information about the police station in their area or the area where the incident happened,” said Mr Teke. He added that many a times, citizens reach a police station to lodge a complaint but are told that the jurisdiction of the incident falls under a different police station.

The application also allows a user to lodge complaints using the app. “We have given an option that takes users to the Mumbai police’s complaints page and the users can lodge minor complaints using the same. We have also linked the app to the Mumbai police’s official Twitter account so that the users can also have access to the same,” said Mr Teke.
