A fire broke out on the 20th floor of Express Towers building at Nariman Point at 2.30 pm on Thursday. People were immediately evacuated from the building and no injuries or casualties have been reported.

A probe is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire, but officials suspect that a short circuit is to blame.

The Fire Brigade dispatched six fire engines and two water tankers to the spot and it took them half an hour to douse the flames.

Offices were temporarily shut, as the staff was evacuated. However, work resumed on the other floors of the building later in the day.

The fire was confined to electric wiring and office material, and no major damage to property has been reported.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out in Suyog Industrial Estate in Kanjurmarg on Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out at 1.44 pm and six fire engines and two water tankers were rushed to the spot. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit in this case as well, even though a probe into the exact cause of the fire is still underway, officials said.
