No signs of ‘Acche Din’ for Maharashtra, says Shiv Sena

Two days after three persons threatened to commit suicide at Mantralaya, Shiv Sena has rapped the BJP-led government saying that these are not signs of ‘Acche Din’. The Sena has also reminded its alliance partner that the people had brought the change and given opportunity to the BJP with a hope to fulfil their minimum expectations.
Three persons had on June 14 threatened to commit suicide in separate incidents at Mantralaya after they were unable to meet chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to get their grievances addressed.
“Thousands of farmers are committing suicide and the poor and the unemployed have also taken to the path of suicide. The government has to stop this. The government on its part is busy making announcements but they are not reaching people at the grassroot level,” the Sena said in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana.
“While the CM says the government is working efficiently and no comments will be tolerated, suicide attempts make us question if people are getting the justice they deserve. While it has been two years since the new government came to power, have things changed for the people Builders and SRA officials are exploiting the people, the students are crying for justice. Is this the good government expected ” it asked.
It said the government may in the future decide to frisk visitors on the steps of Mantralaya or stop visitors altogether, but added this is not the way to deliver justice to people and amounts to running away from responsibilities.
“Three people attempting suicide in one day outside the CM’s office is not a sign of ‘Acche Din’. Inflation is increasing by the day, which is spoiling the image of the government,” the Sena said.
The party said people living in villages and huts only expect transparency from the government.
Among the three who tried to commit suicide, one wanted the government to help him overcome financial problems, while the other wanted the CM to look into his allegation of cheating in the Slum Redevelopment Authority (SRA) scheme. Both have been admitted to hospitals. In the third incident, a college student threatened to jump from the sixth floor of the Mantralaya after officials refused to entertain his application for a scholarship despite directives from the CM.
