Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that “no clean chit” was given to former public works department (PWD) minister Chhagan Bhujbal in the alleged Maharashtra Sadan scam.

While speaking with media persons at Suyog Camp in Nagpur, Mr Fadnavis said, “There is no clean chit to Bhujbal or anyone else and the probe is going on (in connection with the alleged Maharashtra Sadan scam).”

The chief minister was responding to reports that Mr Bhujbal, who is facing Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) probe, has been given a clean chit in connection with an alleged scam in construction of Maharashtra Sadan in the national capital.

He further said, “Reports have been sought on the Maharashtra Sadan scam. These reports from various officers of the PWD vary from each other. Some of them said that there are no irregularities, while their counterparts have contrasting views. Hence, nobody has been given a clean chit yet.”

He said all those facing probe (including Mr Bhujbal) have been given a questionnaire and the process is being conducted by the ACB.

In June this year, the Maharashtra ACB filed an FIR against Mr Bhujbal, who was the PWD minister in the erstwhile Congress-NCP regime in Maharashtra, in connection with the alleged Maharashtra Sadan scam. The case relates to awarding of a contract for the construction of new building of Maharashtra Sadan, the state government’s guesthouse in New Delhi.
