Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials said on Sunday that they wanted to examine the black motorcycle found at the residence of Sanatan Sanstha member Virendra Tawade, the accused in the murder case of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar. The CBI arrested Tawade, as it had discovered that a black motorcycle was used in the killings of Dabholkar and rationalist Govind Pansare.

According to CBI officials Tawade hadn’t give any satisfactory answer about suspicious emails and chat messages. Also, he said he had been riding the motorcycle for the past six to seven years. CBI officials are now verifying Tawade’s answers and examining things that they had seized from his house.

CBI officials said, “We need time to interrogate him. We are working on many points and will soon form a link to the other accused who are responsible for the murder.”

Speaking about the recent arrest, Dabholkar’s son Hamid said, “ Though the first arrest was made at a late stage, at least the investigation agency is on the right track. It has got some emails that Tawade had sent to Sarang Akolkar, who is behind the Goa blast, which CBI officials found suspicious. The mails have indicated that there is conspiracy that they both are involved in. The black motorcycle is suspicious too. I think officials will soon nab the accused who are responsible for my dad’s, Pansare’s and M.M. Kalburgi’s murders.”

Defending Tawade, Sanatan Sanstha spokeperson Abhay Vartak said, “ Tawade is a clean person, and he is not involved in any conspiracy. A black motorcycle can be found at any person’s place and this can’t be the basis on which he is arrested.”

Meanwhile Sanatan Sanstha has requested Akolkar, a member of the organisation who has been away from the city for the past few years, to return.
