Two days after 30-year-old Shamita Tambe fell from the 19th floor of Maker Tower in Cuffe Parade, where she was employed as a caretaker, the police arrested a cook, Sanju Rawat, for negligence on Monday. The officials said that after consuming alcohol, the accused had insisted that Tambe sit on a windowsill to remove a shard of glass that had pierced her foot, which led to her death.

According to police, when they reached at the spot, none of the accused, including owner Ramesh Bhojwani (66), came forward to identify Tambe. The other help, who were present at the time were Ubadi Yadav (35), Pavan Yadav (25), Ramnarayan Yadav (32) and Raj Rawat (22).

Bhojwani, another help Aruna Ingole along with the others, were booked under Section 202 for intentionally concealing information of accidental death from the police.

According to statements of the help, after all the guests had gone home from Bhojwani’s birthday party, the help brought cake for Bhojwani. He then allegedly offered the, vodka, which they all drank. At the time there were pieces of glass lying on the floor, which pierced Tambe’s foot and, hence Rawat made her to sit on the window sill, from when she fell down because she had lost her balance. After the incident, Rawat and others informed Bhojwani about the same when he allegedly told them to keep quiet.
