While a total of 1,017 roads have been undertaken by the BMC for pre-monsoon repair work, it has completed work only on 158 of them. Work on 752 roads is likely to spill over, as the civic body anticipates that it will finish work only on 107 more roads before the monsoon arrives. The bumpiest rides can be expected in the Western suburbs, as work on over 300 roads will spill over before the monsoon.

Additional municipal commissioner Sanjay Deshmukh said, “Road works are divided into two categories. One is works carried over from last year’s monsoon, and others which are new work orders issued exclusively this year. Three hundred and seventy six roads are ongoing works spilled over from last year. New work orders have been issued for 641 fresh road repair works.”

From the above figures, while work spilled over from the monsoon season last year on 376 is still on, the BMC will be able to finish only 83 roads before monsoon and has completed work on only 158. Besides this, additional work orders have been issued for repair work on 641 new roads, of which work on 617 roads is likely to spill over for completion after the monsoon ends.

This number is even more staggering in case of repairing of 122 junctions in the city.

The BMC expects that work on 120 major and minor junctions in the city is likely to spill over for completion after the monsoon.
